About
My name is Hannah Blowes and I create handmade designs from my workshop near Bude in Cornwall (UK). I have always been drawn to the ocean and have been very fortunate to scuba dive in some amazing parts of the world, which allowed me to view this breathtaking world from a totally different perspective, one that I had only seen from the surface or in documentaries. My artwork is inspired by my interactions with sea life and I hope to pass on my love of all things aquatic to you.
I trained as a Theatre/ Film Designer and then later spent 15 years teaching in secondary schools where it was magical to inspire my students with a love of creativity and skill based learning.
It was over this time that I learnt how to carve and my love affair with printmaking began. It has been an amazing experience to now solely focus on my art and delve deep into my own creativity, coming up for air (and tea) occasionally.

Artist & Printer
Hannah Blowes Artist, Printer and Teacher.
I founded Submerge Art in 2021, originally as a fine art printing company. However, after 15 years of teaching, I realized that my passion for education and inspiring others through creativity remained at the heart of my work. The name Submerge Art reflects my deep love of the sea and scuba diving - both sources of calm, exploration, and inspiration.
From my base in Cornwall I now design and create printmaking craft kits that bring the joy of traditional printmaking to a wider audience. These kits allow individuals to learn, experiment, and build confidence in their own creative abilities from the comfort of home. By incorporating modern materials such as easy carve soft lino, I make the art of carving and printing more accessible, especially for beginners eager to discover satisfaction of printmaking.
Educator
I run hands-on workshops designed to help you build your skills and confidence in print and design. Through these sessions, I share traditional printmaking techniques adapted with contemporary materials, blending time-honoured craftsmanship with modern creativity. Teaching gives me the opportunity to inspire others, nurture their artistic growth, and share my passion for art, design, and especially printmaking. I love teaching!
